Avengers 4 makers reveal THIS villain is free and HUNTING an Infinity Stone

It seems killing half of all life in the universe wasn’t bad enough.

Thanos’ actions will have huge repercussions in Avengers 4 beyond the loss of so many major heroes.

The recent release of the Infinity War home entertainment packages in the US have come laden with revelations and teasers, thanks to the audio commentaries by the directors and writers.

To celebrate the release, the directors Joe and Anthony Russo also answered fan questions in a special Twitter event, and dropped yet more tantalising hints about Avengers 4.

The Mad Titan’s rampage across the universe in pursuit of the Infinity Stones lead to eventually to the greatest prize of all on Vormir. Discovering the Soul Stone was the catalyst for Thanos finally launching his attack.

The scene also reintroduced a major villain.

Writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus already admitted they had ‘a fetish’ for bringing the Red Skull back to the MCU, and now the directors have revealed that his story has only just begun.

In the first Captain America movie Red Skull briefly holds the Space Stone (in the Tesseract) and it almost destroys him. In his Infinity War return, Red Skull explains to Thanos and Gamora the terrible price demanded by the Soul Stone. His fate afterwards was not shown.

During the Twitter Q&A the Russos were asked about Red Skull.

They replied: “Red Skull is free to leave Vormir, and he is also free to pursue his desire for an Infinity Stone.”

They could have justs said he was free. Nobody would have been surprised if the villain no longer wanted anything to do with the Stones after his own harrowing experiences with two of them.

Instead the directors teased he is back out there and still wants an Infinity Stone. Which one could he possibly want next?

Will he appear in Avengers 4?

One thing is clear – he is one of the characters in the entire universe who knows the most about the Soul Stone and could be an invaluable source of information, willing or otherwise, for the Avengers as they seek to reclaim all the Stones and undo the Snap.
