For those in America, The Darkest Minds has a timely theme: after a virus kills 98 percent of children under twenty, the remaining two percent develop superpowers.

The government declares these children to be a threat, and they are separated from their families and placed in internment camps.

The main character Ruby joins a rag-tag group of children leading a resistance, the children must band together to escape capture and change the course of the future.

Who is in The Darkest Minds cast?

A whole host of lesser-known names flesh out the cast list for this dystopian future flick.

Amandla Stenberg plays the lead character Ruby Daly, a teenager with unparalleled superpowers.

Her young counterpart is played by Lidya Jewett.

Harris Dickinson plays Liam Stewart, another superpower wielding teen who runs away with Ruby.

Dickinson received critical acclaim for his role in Beach Rats, an LGBTQ coming out story which takes place in present-day Brooklyn.

Starring as Chubs is Skylan Brooks, another child with superpowers who is part of the group running from a bounty hunter.

Brooks is best known for his role in the short-lived but well-loved Netflix special The Get Down.

Rounding out the bunch of rebel kids is Miya Cech as Suzume “Zu”.

The two biggest names on the cast list are Mandy Moore and Gwendoline Christie.

Moore plays Dr Cate Connor, a doctor and supporter of the fight against the government.

Christie plays Lady Jane, the bounty hunter sent after the children who have escaped from the camp.

Other cast members include Patrick Gibson as Clancy Gray, the president’s handsome son, Golden Brooks as Molly Daly, Ruby’s mother, Wallace Langham as Dr Viceroy, Bradley Whitford as President Gray, and Mark O’Brien as Rob Meadows.
