Overwatch Summer Games 2018 release date and new map REVEALED

fans have been treated to some good news this week, as Blizzard announces the start date for the 2018 Summer Games.

The 2018 Summer Games event was rumoured to launch alongside the recently released Wrecking Ball hero.

But the Hammond release date came and went without any sign of the Summer Games event.

But Blizzard has finally announced the release date, confirming that the event will kick off on August 9.

“You’ll get a kick out of this!” reads a Blizzard tweet. “Team up with your friends for Summer Games on August 9.”

And judging by a follow-up teaser (below), it looks like fans will be getting a new Lucioball arena.

The tweet suggests that Lucioball will be playable in Busan, South Korea.

One of the best parts of the Summer Games event is Lucioball, which makes its return in 2018.

The Rocket League-inspired game mode tasks players with scoring the most goals before the timer runs out.

Last year even saw the introduction of Copa Lucioball, which is a ranked version with fresh rewards.

And speaking of rewards, fans can expect a whole new batch of skins, items and emotes, not to mention the return of classic items from past years.

The news comes as Blizzard releases a brand new hero on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Hammond is a new Tank hero with quad cannons and an adaptive shield.

“Wrecking Ball’s tinkering capabilities and iron-clad mech make him a formidable tank hero, capable of bowling through the front line of the opposition and causing mayhem in the back line,” reads a Blizzard post.

“His primary weapon, Quad Cannons, are two sets of twin machine guns that shred enemies caught in their crosshairs.

“No team is too much for Wrecking Ball to engage against with his Adaptive Shield, which generates more health based on the number of enemies nearby.

“This shield makes him incredibly difficult to kill when he bulldozes into the fray and, once he starts to get low on health, also provides him the endurance to escape.”
