Arsenal’s interest in Barcelona forward Dembele is well-documented with the Gunners keen to rescue him from his Nou Camp trouble.
But fans are refusing to fall for one Twitter account claiming to have inside knowledge about a deal.
The account, named @InsideTheSource, said: “Arsenal have arranged a meeting with Ousmane Dembele this morning as he is set to jet back to Barcelona this evening.
“I will update you the best I can.”
However, Arsenal fans have hit back at the claim, refusing to hold back.
@Keith_UG said: “Funniest 12year old.”
@Glorious_Gooner then added: “Of course it’s a coincidence you put this just after he’s been pictured with AFC players….#guesswork.”
“Bro give it a rest you don’t know f*** all, your a deluded clown,” were the thoughts of @TruthHurtsBoi.
And @JamesAparicio challenged the logical side of the tweet, merely saying: “How can Arsenal have a meeting with Dembele without Barcelona’s permission?”
Express Sport understands Arsenal face a fight to sign Dembele.
And football finance expert Kieran Maguire thinks a deal is beyond their grasp.
He told the Daily Star: “There are two issues with Dembele.
“He’s been a disappointment at Barcelona, so they will struggle to get their money back.
“But he is only 21 so his best years are ahead of him and it could have just been a settling-in issue.
“He also suffered with injury problems – so all those things combined to a bad season.
“There is no indication that Barcelona want to sell – so they will push the price up to at least £100m.”
