Barcelona transfer news: Verbal agreement reached over £26.7m deal, medical imminent

Barcelona have already completed three transfers this summer – Malcom, Clement Lenglet and Arthur – but Ernesto Valverde is keen to recruit more.

And their fourth signing through the door looks set to be midfielder Vidal.

According to Spanish publication Sport, both clubs have agreed on a fee of around €30m (£26.7m) and the Chilean has also reached a verbal agreement with Barca.

Vidal has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea in recent months but both clubs looks set to miss out on his signature.

Sport say Barca have been in talks with Vidal’s representatives for over a week and negotiations have reached a positive outcome.

Vidal could now travel in the ‘next few hours’ to undergo his medical.

However, the report states Barca could still pull the plug on the deal if they manage to sign Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The midfielder has been the subject of interest from Barca but PSG are refusing to sell unless they find a replacement.

PSG’s priority target remains Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante but the Blues are unwilling to negotiate his sale.

With Rabiot now looking unlikely to leave the Parc des Princes, Barca are keen to get Vidal’s signature on the dotted line to avoid missing out on him.

The 31-year-old, who has spent the last three years at the Allianz Arena, looks set to leave Germany with new boss Niko Kovac having decided to part with the former Juventus star.

Bayern boss Kovac was asked about Vidal’s future earlier this week and remained non-committal.

“At the moment, Arturo is recovering from an injury. We hope he can come back as soon as possible.

“The future with him? I can’t say anything more.”

Vidal’s current contract with the Bundesliga champions runs until the end of this season.

While clubs in England have until next Friday to complete their transfer business, negotiations between Spanish and French clubs can continue until the end of the month.
