Snooker news: Neil Robertson hails ‘experience’ for Riga Masters win over Jack Lisowski

The former world champion fired a break of 117 en route to his 5-2 win which secured the 14th ranking title of his career.

Robertson is playing with a new cue for the first time in 20 years and his decision immediately paid off as he powered to a comfortable victory.

His century saw him sail into a 3-0 lead and although Lisowski reduced the deficit, the Australian did not look back.

Robertson’s fine form had been evident in his semi-final earlier in the day, when he whitewashed Stuart Carrington 5-0.

Lisowski had impressed with a 5-1 win over Stephen Maguire, sealing the 27-year-old’s place in his first ranking final of his career.

”It was a tough final, we both played fantastic to get there but then we struggled tonight because the balls ran awkward,” Robertson said.

“I really had to use my experience.

“Jack will learn a lot from this, he will win many titles because he is such a talented player and it’s good to see his game coming on.

”I want to build on this and win multiple tournaments this season. I’m really enjoying playing at the moment.”

Lisowski said: “It’s a step in the right direction for me but I’m just disappointed to put on a display like that in the final.

“It was the first time I had played on the match table and I couldn’t adapt to it.”
