NBA trade news: Kobe Bryant to make shock comeback? Shaquille O’Neal to join LeBron James?

James left Cleveland Cavaliers after losing the NBA Finals for a second consecutive year to Golden State Warriors.

He moved to the Lakers to aid their young side challenge for the biggest prize in the sport.

But could the iconic Shaquille O’Neal, 46, make a shock comeback to help the side, seven years after retiring?

“No, I’m done,” he replied when asked the teasing question.

However, the former Lakers and Cavs centre did reveal that another former star in Kobe Bryant will return.

Bryant, 39, only retried two years ago but had a glittering career winning five NBA championships.

“Kobe coming back, I heard,” O’Neal said.

“Kobe coming back, I heard he was. You heard it here first.”

The comment is considered to be tongue in cheek and very unlikely the shooting guard will return to join James at the Lakers.

Meanwhile, O’Neal has previously been critical of James’ transfer to the Western Conference outfit.

“I would have thought because — see, we all have egos,” O’Neal told Nola.com.

“When I had my three rings, I wanted to get four before Kobe [Bryant] did.

“Now, we got four, then Kobe got five. I didn’t want Tim Duncan to get five either.

“So, I thought LeBron’s process was going to be, ‘I got three, Steph’s [Curry] got three. I’m going to stay in Cleveland, bring some people here or go to a team I can get four before he got four.’

“I don’t see it happening, because Golden State just added [DeMarcus] Cousins. So, when I was playing, I didn’t want anyone saying they had more rings than me.

“Seems to me Golden State is going to get at least two more.”
