Fortnite downtime: Will Fortnite go down today – Epic Games teases iOS update

Epic Games has tweeted out saying there will be no downtime for their update this morning.

The game developers tweeted last night, announcing there would be no scheduled downtime and that the update would just be rolled out without any delay.

This is good news for Fortnite players who normally have to endure a couple of hours of downtime every Tuesday as Epic Games reveals new content.

Epic Games did hint about a new iOS update, however.

Why isn’t Fortnite down today?

Since Fortnite’s Battle Pass began, players have had to wait every week for Epic Games to bring in a new patch update.

The scheduling has been regular throughout the five seasons we have seen so far, though the update day has changed across the last year or so.

In Season 4, the update day was changed to Thursday’s, meaning the morning of every Thursday would be a period of server downtime while Epic Games brought in new content to the game.

Season 5 saw the update day change back to Tuesday, but Fortnite fans around the world are happy to see there will be no downtime today.

Late last night, @FortniteGame tweeted: “Good news, everyone! Downtime is no longer required for the v5.10 Content Update that is scheduled for tomorrow, July 31 at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).”

Doubling down on the good news, Epic Games also, cryptically, tweeted: “For this update, iOS players will encounter a larger than usual update size.”

Fans were sent wild with speculation as to what this could mean, but we will have to wait until the update has dropped to find out.

So far, Epic Games has not revealed what this could mean, but iOS players will expect some news before 12pm today.

Alongside his, Epic Games has released some incredible new skins and cosmetics into the Item Shop today.

Fans can dress up as a deep-sea monster in the Moisty Merman skin, and a powerful Chinese monkey skin with the Wukong outfit.
