Indonesia earthquake: SHOCKING video reveals homes reduced to rubble after deadly quake

A powerful earthquake struck the popular tourist destination of Lombok killing at least 14 people.

The 6.4 magnitude quake hit just before 7am local time (11.47pm BST).

More than 160 people were injured from the deadly quake with thousands of homes damaged.

In the footage, the damaging extent of the powerful quake shows buildings reduced to rubble.

The island is well-known as a global summer destination, due to its tourist resorts, beaches and hiking trails.

Tremors were felt in neighbouring tourist destination Bali, which is only 25 miles (40km) away.

Around 11 aftershocks were recorded, as well as 60 smaller earthquakes following the first one.

Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the country’s disaster agency, said: “The main focus now is evacuation and rescue.

“Some of the injured are still being treated at clinics.”

Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, a citizen protection director at the foreign ministry, told the BBC: “The quake felt so strong.

“Tourists were panicked and frightened and escaped from hotels.”

A Malaysian tourist who was on a hiking trip to the popular destination Mount Rinjani is among those killed.

Mount Rinjani National Park has since been closed due to landslides.
