Galaxy Note 9 – Samsung reveals three radical changes you won’t find on the Note 8

The South Korean technology firm has scheduled its Galaxy “Unpacked” event for August 9 that will all-but-surely be the grand unveiling of the Note 9.

But ahead of the event Samsung uploaded three videos to its YouTube channel with the hashtag “Unpacked” to give fans a small glimpse into what August 9 has in store.

The first video focuses on performance and hints the Galaxy Note 9 will feature turbocharged internals, allowing it to blow its predecessor out the water in terms of all-out horsepower.

Titled “phone too slow? A lot can change in a day”, the video shows a user being sent a file they have to open.

The demonstration shows the smartphone in use struggle to open the document and shows the user frantically disabling features of their device in a desperate attempt to increase performance.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chip, the leading processor powered by a swathe of flagship Android devices, debuted at the start of the year and no official word has emerged of its successor.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are powered by the Snapdragon 845 in some territories while Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 9810 chip powers the device in other regions, such as the UK.

The announcement teases substantially increased performance, hinting Samsung could have a new chip in the works to power the Galaxy Note 9.

The South Korean tech giant’s second video suggests the Galaxy Note 9 is packing huge amounts of internal storage.

The clip, called “never have enough storage?” shows a user attempting to download a file only to be told their smartphone is full.

The user then attempts to delete a number of items to make room for it but has no luck.

Such a video could also suggest Samsung is working to bring 512GB of internal storage to the new phablet.

It appears the Galaxy Note 9 is going to arrive with a hugely-improved battery compared to the Note 8.

The third and final video posted by the tech firm shows a user quickly running out of battery life ahead of a meeting.

But Samsung appears confident in ensuring all-day battery life with ease.

Rumours initially pointed towards the Galaxy Note 9 featuring a 3,850 mAh battery – this would have been substantially higher than the Galaxy Note 8’s 3,300 mAh.

But Twitter user and reliable tipster Ice Universe has since declared the company could pack a 4,000 mAh battery inside.

This would drastically improve the Note line’s current battery life, potentially delivering an entire day of usage easily with room to spare.

Samsung fans will not have to wait long to see what the Galaxy Note 9 has in store.
