Avengers 4: Is Loki in Avengers 4?

For a movie full of heart rendering moments, Loki’s final scene was certainly one of the most difficult to stomach.

Loki is a notoriously a chief of illusion, using his skills to fake his own death in The Dark World.

However, in Loki’s last moments of Infinity War, as Thanos choked the life from him and threw his body to the ground, he categorically said there would be “no resurrections, this time”.

But fans are still holding out hope, due to a mixture of leaked set photos and the theories of time travel gaining more and more credence.

Will Loki be in Avengers 4?

Maybe seems to be the best guess, but if the answer is a definitive yes, it may not mean what fans are hoping for.

Time travel is set to be a huge part of the upcoming Avengers 4, with leaked set photos showing old costumes.

The photos which include Loki are said to be from the Battle of New York scene from in Avengers 1,

This appearance could be a flashback or time travel, but either way, Loki’s fate may still be sealed despite his appearance in the movie.

Despite this hope, Hiddleston himself has said there will be no resurrection for Loki.

During a panel with Movieweb, he said: “I met with Marvel in May 2016, and they were actually telling me the story of Ragnarok with concept art and images.

“The Russos came in, and I introduced myself. So, all four of us sat down, and they said this is how Infinity War begins.

“My whole journey through making Thor: Ragnarok, I knew this was coming. By the end of Thor: Ragnarok, Loki has been accepted as Thor’s brother again.

“When I came to shoot the scene in Infinity War, I think it’s very powerful he calls himself an Odinson, and that closes the whole journey of Loki,” Hiddleston concluded.

This last sentence is what causes fans so much consternation – Loki’s journey coming to a close.

The upcoming Ant-Man and Captain Marvel movies are expected to introduce themes about the Quantum Realm and alternate dimensions, which could lead into Avengers 4.

These alternate dimensions, however, would only apply to those who were wiped out of existence by Thanos’ snap, not to those who were brutally killed by him.

No matter what track Avengers 4 takes, it’s highly likely we’ll see Loki again in the future, or the past.

Avengers 4 is in cinemas on Friday, 26 April 2019.
