iPhone X 2018 – New leak shows why Apple’s budget phone may have plenty of appeal

is expected to unveil three new 2018 iPhone models around September and rumours are rife that one of the devices will be much more affordable.

The trio of iPhones are expected to come with the notch display design found on the current flagship iPhone X.

But its the new 6.1-inch 2018 iPhone that could be a more affordable option than the current £999 flagship.

Apple has allegedly achieved this price cut by making savings on the display, using an LCD rather than the OLED found in the current iPhone X.

As a result of using LCD, the display isn’t as flexible, which is reportedly going to mean a larger bezel and could have meant a bigger bottom chin.

However, new leaks show that while the LCD 2018 iPhone should have a slightly bigger bezel, the bottom remains free of a chin.

The tempered film of the three iPhone 2018, we found that the 6.1-inch iPhone uses an LCD screen, its border is wider, and the 5.8 and 6.5-inch iPhone is an OLED screen with a narrower border.

Some of Apple’s Android competition also offer top-notch style displays but with a bottom chin, like the Huawei P20 Pro which also features a fingerprint sensor button in that chin bezel.

While the slightly larger bezel of the affordable 6.1-inch iPhone may not end up looking as good as the OLED models, it should still appear impressive.

Couple this with reports that this handset could be priced as low as $550, which is about £420, and that bezel increase starts to look well worth it.

Apple is expected to release a refreshed iPhone X with 5.8-inch OLED screen and dual cameras, like the current model.

The company should also launch a new top-end 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus with a triple lens rear camera, if rumours prove accurate.

The flagship iPhone X Plus is expected to priced at over the £1,000 mark.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is also expected to make savings with the camera by offering a single lens unit like the current iPhone 8.

All three iPhones for 2018 should come with the front-facing TrueDepth camera system of the iPhone X that will allow them all to offer Face ID for security.

There were previously rumours of a fourth budget iPhone SE 2 which crams in an iPhone X style screen into a smaller form factor and older style frame.

These have dried up suggesting they may have been early confusion mixing them with the affordable 6.1-inch iPhone model.
