Chelsea transfer news: Maurizio Sarri eyeing Inter Milan swoop thanks to FFP

The Blues take on the Serie A outfit in the International Champions Cup this evening as Maurizio Sarri takes charge of his second game.

And the Italian may look to steal one of Inter’s star men before next month’s transfer deadline.

According to CalcioMercato, Vecino is high on Chelsea’s transfer wish list, and readily available this summer.

Inter need to shift some squad members to comply with FFP regulations for this coming year.

And CalcioMercato claim the Nerazzurri will demand €35m (£31m) but could be tempted to flog the 26-year-old for €30m (£27m).

Vecino played under Sarri at Empoli before the 59-year-old moved onto greater things at Napoli.

The Uruguayan is currently on an extended holiday after his country’s World Cup exploits in Russia so will play no part in tonight’s fixture.

Sarri, meanwhile, is facing a race against time to get bodies through the door at Stamford Bridge after his delayed appointment.

The new Chelsea boss has only captured Jorginho and backup goalkeeper Rob Green since his arrival earlier this month and no other deals appear close to completion.

Sarri appears keen to raid Serie A for stars this summer, with Juventus duo Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani rumoured to be on their way to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea take on Inter Milan at 7.05pm this evening in Nice.
