WWE news: Bobby Lashley lifts lid on Roman Reigns victory at Extreme Rules

Lashley beat Reigns at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with the Spear, the same finisher that has won the ex-Shield star multiple titles in the past.

The Dominator described his rival as the “face of the company” but insists that he is now a threat to every WWE title and that he has sent a strong message to the talent in the locker room.

The ex-ECW Champion told Express Sport how much that victory meant to him: “I think it meant a tremendous amount to me and the WWE Universe.

“Roman Reigns, whether people like him or not, he is an amazing in-ring performer and he is the face of the company. So the fact that I was able to get a clean victory over him kinda put myself in the upper echelons of the entire WWE Universe.

“I think the other guys need to sort of be looking at that as I am a complete threat to any title and I’m not gonna be a slouch coming into a match with anyone.”

Lashley’s momentum, however, didn’t last long as Reigns evened the score last Monday night on RAW when they faced off in a No1 Contender’s Match for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship ahead of SummerSlam.

The new No1 Contender has been struggling to win over the fans since 2015, even though he performs as a babyface (good guy), and that has left The Dominator baffled.

The ex-US Champion added during a conference call: “Roman has really impressed me. It kills me to be out in the ring with somebody at his level and to hear the boos or hear the crowd divided as to whether or not he deserves to be in the position that he is.

“And I don’t get it. I mean, he has the look, he’s a great athlete and he’s a great in-ring performer. I mean he’s had great matches with a lot of different people.”

Lashley left the WWE in 2008 after a successful first stint in the company that saw him becoming ECW Champion as well as US Champion and taking part in a blockbuster WrestleMania 23 match where he represented current US President Donald Trump against Umaga, who fought for Vince McMahon, in a match that saw Stone Cold Steve Austin performing as the Special Guest Referee.

He also shared the ring with wrestling greats like John Cena, Batista, Big Show and many others.

The MMA star then went on to fight at Strikeforce and Bellattor before returning to McMahon’s promotion on the first episode of RAW after WrestleMania 34 three months ago.
