PS Plus August 2018 UPDATE: Big bonus live ahead of free PS4 games reveal

The tech giant has not confirmed what new titles will be included in their next round of free PS4 games.

The PS Plus August 2018 reveal was thought to be coming this week; however, it appears Sony has changed plans for the end of July.

PlayStation Plus freebies are typically announced on the last Wednesday of the month and released the following Tuesday.

However, it appears that Sony has delayed the usual reveal due to the way the days fall in July.

It’s now more likely that the PS Plus games for August 2018 will be announced on Wednesday, August 1, and released on August 7.

The good news for fans waiting on the big update is that they can enjoy a new range of PlayStation Plus freebies this week.

It has been confirmed by Sony and Rockstar Games that GTA 5 Online will not require a PS Plus subscription for a limited time.

This means all PS4 owners with a copy of GTA 5 will have access to GTA Online on PS4 and PS3 until August 6.

This coincides with the launch of Rockstar’s next major DLC for the popular multiplayer mode, with After Hours content now available to use.

This allows players to run their own Nightclub, as well as collect a range of new vehicles for their own personal use.

“Get your venture off the ground with some help from the legendary Tony Prince: source a sound system, choose your décor and get busy booking superstar DJs to keep the club packed to the rafters all day and all night – and use it all as a front for the most concentrated network of criminal enterprises ever to hit San Andreas.

“From the mainframe, in this sprawling underground warehouse your tech team can accrue high demand contraband from every other business you own – and all without you having to lift a finger.”

There’s also another available bonus for those who want to buy 15 months of PS Plus at a discount, while also receiving a bonus GTA $1,250,00 in-game.

Another seven weeks of GTA $200,000 drops continue, making it a total 2,650,000 million in-game GTA dollars to spend in GTA Online.

It should be noted that the content you have downloaded as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription at no charge is only accessible as long as you are an active subscriber.

The exceptions are free themes and avatars, which you will continue to have access to, even if you are no longer a subscriber.

Anything you have purchased (even if you purchased it at a discount) will remain available to you even if your subscription ends.

Also, different countries have different rights, release schedules and, have different things available on their PlayStation Store for this reason.

So this is why you may hear about different games being available in Asia, Europe and North America when it comes to some PS Plus announcements.

Even following the official announcement this week, fans will still have plenty of time to grab the current batch of PS Plus games before they disappear.

This includes Heavy Rain and Absolver for PS4, Rayman 3 HD and Extreme Exorcism for PS3, and Space Overlords and Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma for Vita.
