One Reddit user has pointed out: “Rubberband Man is also a nickname the Thing has for Reed Richards.”
Reed Richards of course being Mr Fantastic, the member of the Fantastic Four who has extreme superhuman elasticity.
So could this be foreshadowing the entrance of the superhero team in Avengers 4 and beyond? – fans can only hope.
Meanwhile another theory of who the Rubberband Man is includes Thanos himself.
Reddit user hockeytalkie writes: “Obviously, as the one and only song with lyrics in the entire movie, The Rubberband Man must have been carefully selected.
“There must be some meaning to it. I’ve seen a few analyses of the lyrics attempting to derive meaning from every single line of the song, but I really don’t think it goes any further than the title and the title-line.
“[It reads] ‘Hey, ya’ll, prepare yourself for The Rubberband Man.’
“What do rubberbands do? They snap. Thanos is The Rubberband Man. Prepare yourself, ya’ll.”
This seems particularly more plausible, but who knows; perhaps there’s a double meaning?
