Police identify girl KILLED in Toronto shooting as Julianna Kozis

She was killed when a gunman opened fire on a busy street in the Greektown district.

Toronto Police Service said in a statement:”Her family has requested privacy during their time of grief.”

Police and paramedics were called to the Logan and Danforth avenues area around 10pm on Sunday after receiving reports of shots being fired.

Frank Scarpitti, the mayor of the city of Markham said Sunday’s “senseless act of violence has shaken us and hurt us”.

He said in a statement: “This heartbreaking story speaks to the unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter and I salute the Toronto paramedics, doctors and nurses who reportedly brought them together, showing incredible compassion and kindness in her final moments.

“This senseless act of violence has shaken us and hurt us.

“We stand with the victims, the brave first responders and all the communities impacted by this tragedy.”

The shooting also claimed the life of eighteen-year-old Reese Fallon, who recently graduated high school and was set to attend McMaster University for nursing.

A total of 13 others were injured.

Chief Mark Saunders said police arrived at the scene and quickly identified the suspect.

Mr Saunders claimed there was an exchange of gunfire the shooter died of gunshot wounds.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) identified the suspect on Monday afternoon as Faisal Hussain.

Police did not say whether the shooter was shot by police or if it was self-inflicted.

An autopsy took place yesterday.

The motive behind the shooting has yet to be established and Toronto Police claimed they will not speculate.

However, Hussain’s family members suggested he had been suffering from mental health issues for most of his life.
