Pokemon Go Lucky Pokemon release date countdown: Niantic posts new launch update

developer has posted a new update about Lucky Pokemon.

After a recent leak, Niantic officially announced Lucky Pokemon earlier this week.

Lucky Pokemon require less Stardust to power up, but are only available through trading.

“Professor Willow has made an important new discovery about Pokemon!” reads a Niantic post.

“His findings suggest that Pokemon can take on a new trait when they are traded. The trait’s origin is a mystery, and you can experience it soon in Pokemon GO!”

Lucky Pokemon can be recognised by their sparkly backgrounds and can also be detected by the Pokedex.

The reduced cost of Stardust also means that you can power them up faster than before.

But what fans really want to know is when Lucky Pokemon will be available through trading.

Niantic has posted a new update on Twitter, telling fans that Lucky Pokemon will only be available

“Attention, Trainers! Lucky Pokemon are not currently available,” reads a Niantic tweet.

“After Pokemon GO has been updated for all users, this feature will be enabled. We appreciate your patience.”

Niantic has also revealed more about how to increase your chances of nabbing a Lucky Pokemon.

According to Niantic, the longer a Pokemon is in storage, the more likely it is to be Lucky.

“The longer the Pokemon spends inside a Trainer’s Pokemon storage, the higher the chance of them becoming Lucky Pokemon when they are traded,” Niantic continues.

“Whether or not being in storage causes Pokemon to become Lucky Pokemon remains a mystery, but be sure to stay posted for more results from the professor’s research.”

Gifts, meanwhile, will now grant XP, and also have a chance of containing Stardust.
