Pakistan election 2018 pictures: Who will win the election?

The nation began voting on Wednesday in a general election between former cricketer Imran Khan against the party of jailed ex-prime minister Nawaz Shari.

About 106 million people are registered to vote in polls due to close at 6pm (2pm BST). Results will start trickling in within hours, and the likely winner should be known by around 2am local time tomorrow (10pm BST today).

A bomb blast near a voting centre killed at least 24 people and injured 35 in the western city of Quetta, which happened as Pakistanis voted.

A total of 371,000 soldiers have been stationed at polling stations across the country to prevent attacks, nearly five times the number deployed at the last election in 2013.

The election will be only the second civilian transfer of power in Pakistan’s history.
