Aston Villa KEEP Steve Bruce: Club statement as Thierry Henry rumours linger

The club confirmed in a statement: “Aston Villa can confirm manager Steve Bruce has met majority owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens and will continue as manager with their full support.”

Bruce held showdown talks with Aston Villa’s new owners today.

The manager has been rumoured to leave the club following revelations Thierry Henry was approached over the managerial job.

It now looks as though Bruce will remain in charge of Villa heading into the new Championship season.

However, the pressure on the boss is building after Villa failed to secure promotion last term.

Bruce did not travel with the Villa squad for tonight’s friendly with West Ham at Walsall.

However, he was on touchline for the 7.45pm kick off, having traveled independently to the stadium.

have been in turmoil all summer, with Bruce admitting before they were taken over that players may have to be sold to avoid Financial Fair Play breaches.

But the arrival of two new investors in Sawiris and Edens has smoothed over proceedings for the time being.

Bruce has already overseen two Villa pre-season friendlies this summer and the Henry revelations came out of the blue on Tuesday.

Henry has only just returned from the World Cup, where he was assistant to the Belgium side that beat England in the third-place playoff.

The former Arsenal striker wants to get into management and it appeared as though he was all set to replace Bruce.
