Lakers news: LeBron James will crack down on ‘crazy’ locker room personalities

Team president Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka were forced into a rethink on their recruitment during the offseason after missing out on Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

In their place, the Lakers added league-hardened veterans like JaVale McGee, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley to play alongside emerging youngsters Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and Brandon Ingram.

The resulting blend of characters provides fans with a fascinating storyline heading into next season given the colourful reputations of many of the team’s new additions.

But speaking on Undisputed yesterday, New York Knicks center Enes Kanter claimed James would not stand for any nonsense behind the scenes.

“The locker room, the personalities in there, it’s going to be crazy,” Kanter said.

“I don’t know if LeBron is going to take that because he is a professional dude. He is all about professionalism and perfectionism.

“The locker room is going to be crazy but I think they have a really good chance to make the Western Conference Finals.”

Former Knicks team-mate Michael Beasley became the latest addition to the Lakers’ roster when he penned a one-year $3.5m deal with the Western Conference giants.

And Kanter assured fans he would be a success in his new surroundings.

“[Beasley] is the most interesting man in the world, he’s very different,” he continued.

“He’s a walking bucket. He can score. But I think LeBron is going to take him to the next level, I’m very happy for him.

“He needed a guy like LeBron to keep him focused.”
