Fortnite players are unable to login this morning as Epic Games roll out the new patch update.
Servers were switched off this morning in time for a big content patch update.
Epic Games teased several big updates to the game on Twitter late last night, including a big celebration of their one year anniversary.
Game services will remain offline for several hours as the update comes online.
How long is Fortnite downtime?
Fortnite servers were turned off at 8am BST (4am ET) in time for a big content patch this morning.
Players were logged out of their games roughly 20 minutes beforehand in time for the update.
As usual, Epic Games will keep the servers offline for roughly two hours, though this can often change.
Epic Games are usually quite quick at bringing in new updates, but this new patch update looks to be a big update so it may take longer.
Gamers can expect usual service to resume by 11am, but that time is subject to change.
The new patch will bring in a bunch of new changes to the game, including a big celebration of the first birthday of Fortnite.
Fortnite was released onto PC on July 25 2017, so Epic Games is bringing in several gameplay elements to mark the occasion.
The official Fortnite website said: “ Happy Birthday Fortnite Fans! Starting July 24th, we’ll be celebrating #Fortnite1st with a limited time in-game event! You can earn special birthday cosmetics by completing birthday challenges and quests in-game.
“From the birthday Battle Bus to the ‘sploder husks carrying a tasty surprise, we can’t wait to party with you! The in-game celebration lasts until August 7!”
Epic Games has brought in several ‘Birthday Challenges’ to keep players interested during the anniversary event.
Each challenge will unlock a slice of the birthday cosmetic set.
The Birthday Challenges are:
• Deal 1,000 damage to opponents to unlock the Fortnite Birthday! Emoticon
• Dance at different birthday cakes to unlock the Happy Birthday! Spray
• Play 14 matches to unlock 5,000 XP.
• Complete all 3 challenges to earn the Birthday Cake Back Bling
Complete the Fortnite Birthday questline in Save the World and earn the Birthday Brigade Ramirez Hero! Earn tickets to spend on Birthday Llamas which can contain Heroes and weapons from every event this year.
