Tom Hardy CONFIRMS Mad Max Fury Road sequels – ‘It was always the plan to do a TRILOGY’

Back in 2015 Hardy starred in George Miller’s post-apocalyptic reboot.

The stunning action thriller went on to be nominated for 10 Oscars, winning six Academy Awards in total.

Since Mad Max Fury Road’s release fans have been wondering when Hardy and Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa will be returning to the big screen.

Well now the 40-year-old Brit has given an update, confirming planned sequels are in the works.

Speaking with Variety at San Diego Comic Con, Hardy said: “It was always the plan to do three of them, so I think we’re still waiting on being given the opportunity and the green light to go ahead on the next one.

“But when I engaged on that there was a plethora of material on it.

“Obviously it belongs to Warner Brothers so it would be them who green-lit it.

“But a lot of projects are in radial, you know you wait for something to land when it’s real, and as soon as it’s real we’ll jump on it.”

Hardy was at Comic Con to promote his new superhero movie Venom, a spin-off of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

According to Coral, his odds have been cut from 7-2 to 2-1, taking the lead over James Norton.

A Coral spokesman said: “It is easy to see why punters are backing Tom Hardy to play the next James Bond and following a flurry of bets behind the British actor. He is now the clear favourite to be the next 007.”

Last month former Bond star Pierce Brosnan backed Hardy to replace Craig.

He said: “Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.

“He will do the next movie, and then I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond.”
