Iran tells Trump he’s launched ‘PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE’ and will never abandon beliefs

And the Islamic Republic will resist any pressure from the US, Gholamhossein Gheybparvar, Senior Commander for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, blasted.

Mr Gheybparvar said Mr Trump “cannot do a thing against Iran”.

In comments which came through semi-state run news agency INSA, he said: “We will never abandon our revolutionary beliefs. We will resist pressure from enemies.

“America wants nothing less than to destroy Iran but Trump cannot do a damn thing against Iran.”

Mr Gheybparvar made the comments in response to Mr Trump’s early morning tweet today, in which he issued a dire warning to the Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, has responded to US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who made a speech against the country’s clerical rulers on Sunday, in which he denounced Iran’s leaders as a “mafia”.

According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, Mr Qasemi said: “Pompeo’s speech on Sunday was a clear interference in ‘s state matters…such policies will unite ians who will overcome plots against their country.”

The war of words began on Sunday when Mr Rouhani hit out at the US over plans to block oil exports as part of the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.

During a televised speech, Mr Rouhani warned the US hostile policies towards Tehran could lead to “the mother of all wars”.

He said: “Do not play with the lion’s tail or else you will regret it.

“Peace with Iran would be the mother of all peace and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars.

“You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests.”

Mr Trump replied this morning ordering Iran to stop threatening the US or face the consequences.

Writing in capital letters on Twitter, Mr Trump said: ”To Iranian President Rouhani: never, ever, threatens the United States again or you will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before.

“We are no longer a country that will stand for your demented words of violence & death. Be cautious.”

Mr Gheybparvar’s comments are likely to heighten tensions between the two countries, which have been at loggerheads since the President decided to unilaterally withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal.

In early May, Mr Trump lambasted the pact during his withdrawal speech and described it as a “horrible one-sided deal” that should have “never, ever” been signed.
