Fallout 76 beta date confirmed: Bethesda reveal October plans for release

Having waited for further details on the upcoming Fallout 76 beta, the development team in charge have now offered more details on its initial launch.

A post on the Bethesda forums has now revealed that beta testing of servers will begin in October.

People who have pre-ordered Fallout 76 will start to be selected in October, although the pool will begin small.

Everyone who has pre-ordered the game will get access to the beta, so no one has to worry about being left out.

Bethesda says they will probably share more about Fallout 76 during Quakecon, which is scheduled for August 2018.

That doesn’t mean everything will be confirmed during the panel, only that some more news is likely to be shared.

Here’s the full post from Bethesda, which reads: “Hi everyone, Popping in to say that it’s been very fun seeing everyone’s discussion on Fallout 76 and what your hopes and thoughts are about the game.

“I and members of the studio regularly lurk, and it’s been great to read through your questions and feedback.

“With that in mind, we know you’re anxious to learn more about the game and more specifically, about the B.E.T.A.

“Starting in October we’ll be selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer to enter our B.E.T.A. We’ll start small and grow over time as we prepare for launch.

“Be sure you’ve read our F.A.Q., for details on how to redeem your B.E.T.A. code and other important details.

“Beyond that, we know you have numerous questions about the game. Things are still changing and being iterated on, so we cannot answer everything yet, but we encourage you to submit your questions.

“During the Fallout 76 panel at QuakeCon we’ll be answering some of your questions. If you’re in Dallas, come join us. If you’re not able to make in person, you can check out all the fun via the live stream airing on Mixer.

“Send questions our way by posting them here in the forums, on any of the Fallout subreddits, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

“Thank you again for all your patience, discussion, feedback, and thoughts as we get closer to the launch of Fallout 76.”

It should be noted that in an earlier FAQ post on the Bethesda website, the company confirmed that the beta would start on Xbox One.

“The B.E.T.A. will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on PC (via Bethesda.net). Stay tuned for exact timing for each platform here and @Fallout on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

“Please note that the B.E.T.A. for Xbox One will begin first, followed by other platforms.”

So it stands to reason that the first gamers to get access will come from the Microsoft console.

As mentioned above, for those who want to join the Fallout 76 beta, the only way to do it is by pre-ordering the game.

No open beta news has been shared by Bethesda, so there’s no guarantee of a free test before the final launch of the game.

Fallout 76 will be an online-only experience coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 14, 2018.
