Princess Eugenie wedding: Royal to take new name as Jack Brooksbank remains a ‘commoner’

Princess Eugenie will marry Jack Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle later this year.

It has been speculated her husband-to-be might be granted a title upon the couple’s marriage.

However, a source has now cast doubt on the matter.

It was believed Jack might be granted the title Earl of Northallerton – which is currently vacant – upon marrying Eugenie.

The source told the Mail Online this will not be the case.

This means Jack will remain technically a “commoner” when he marries Eugenie, according to the report.

If this is the case, Princess Eugenie will be known as HRH Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank after her wedding.

“Eugenie couldn’t care less about titles and is perfectly happy to be Mrs Brooksbank,” the source told the publication.

Princess Eugenie is currently ninth-in-line to the British throne.

Unlike her cousins Prince William, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, Eugenie has never been a “working royal”.

This means that while she attends some royal events out of choice, she is not obliged to do so by duty.

Yesterday, Princess Eugenie shared intimate pictures on Instagram of her and her husband-to-be.

Eugenie posted two photos of herself and Jack, and wrote: “Jack and I are excited to be able to invite people to watch our wedding inside the Precinct of Windsor Castle. Find out more via publicevents.royal.uk/ballot”.

Their wedding will be therefore be attended by not on the Royal Family, but also members of the public, who have now been invited to apply for a ballot.

Instead of putting the news online with her official engagement photos, Eugenie decided to release never-before-seen images in to the public domain.

The first snap sees Jack smiling broadly as he faces the camera, a pair of sunglasses shading his eyes.

He has his arm around Eugenie, who is turned slightly to the side and looks lovingly up at him.

The young royal is also wearing a pair of sunglasses, as well as a cornflower blue dress.

In the second picture, Jack and Eugenie walk away from the camera, their arms around each other in a romantic pose.

Both are wearing a pair of wellies and casual attire, reflecting the countryside setting they are in.
