Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp provides Mohamed Salah shoulder injury update

Salah struggled with the problem he sustained in the Champions League Final at the start of Egypt’s World Cup campaign.

Klopp says Liverpool were in constant contact with Egypt during the tournament and says last season’s double Player of the Year reported back for pre-season training on Friday in perfect condition.

“He’s fully recovered,” said the Reds boss. “We were constantly in contact. He was fine. Shoulder-wise, he had no problems.

“We had really close contact and it was clear if he had any problems still, then he would have waited for the next game. He’s a very serious person and he knows that it’s his career.

“Whatever people want, if you can’t, then you can’t. He was completely fine and is completely fine now.”

Salah returned with Sadio Mane and the African stars will step up their training during the Reds’ US tour.

“He looks full of joy and he’s really happy to be back,” said Jurgen Klopp. “It was nice to see them yesterday for the first time – and the same for Sadio.

“They had an intense year behind, but they are really looking forward to the season already.

“It’s good to have them back and they can start training now. It was not a long time they were out, but it was very important that they had these three weeks.

“Now they still have a really good base. They look very fit. We made a test yesterday and both did the work they had to do.

“Now they can start quicker than the rest of the team from another base. That’s good for us, but the season starts on August 12, not this week, so that’s good.”
