Liverpool transfer news: Klopp discusses Dortmund ace Christian Pulisic ‘joining us’

The Borussia Dortmund winger will be reunited with his former boss when the Bundesliga outfit take on the Reds in America this weekend.

Pulisic has been heavily linked with a move to a host of English clubs in recent times, including Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.

But Klopp’s previous relationship with the youngster has always made the Merseyside outfit favourites to sign Pulisic.

And the German spoke highly of the 19-year-old at his pre-match press conference.

“Yeah, he has a contract at Dortmund. That’s the first problem,” he told reporters.

“I know Christian, I liked him since he was a kid.

“He’s a fantastic player, it’s deserved people think highly of him, in Germany it’s the same.

“If he wants to play in England he has the chance to do so but he’s at a really good club already.

“He had not his best season last year but he was a decisive player but it’s important, there’s no rush, that’s good and he wants to be the best Pulisic he can be.

“If he joined us, I don’t know. I like him, but we respect contracts and there’s no market I know about him.

“We did our business and Dortmund did theirs. All good.”

Liverpool have already strengthened their wide areas this summer, bringing in Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City earlier this month.

The Swiss international joins Naby Keita, Fabinho and Alisson who have also been signed by Klopp.

Pulisic’s current Dortmund deal expires in 2020.
