Fortnite Summer Skirmish Week 2 LIVE: New Standings, Leaderboard, Twitch tournament news

Having been hit by some significant technical issues last week, the Fortnite Summer Skirmish is back on Twitch.

Week 2 of the Twitch-streamed tournament is currently ongoing and will have action being played today and Saturday, July 21.

For those that don’t know, the Summer Skirmish series includes a range of new eSports competitions which will consist of top prize money.

The 8-week series we’ll be awarding $8,000,000 in prize money in total, with $1,000,000 up for grabs during week 2.

Each time the Fortnite Summer Skirmish is run, Epic Games will change up the format to make it a little more interesting.

The Week 2 format is the highest score wins, meaning plenty of competition for those hoping to grab a slice of the prize money.

The player with the highest score after 10 Solo matches will be named the winner.

Victory Royales and Eliminations in this competition will be scored to determine placement at the end of the event.

The top 20 players at the end of the Week 2 Summer Skirmish will be awarded. Scoring is as follows:

SCORING

  • Victory Royales: +5 Points
  • Eliminations: +1 Point
  • 20 or More Eliminations (per game): +10 Points and $10,000

It should also be noted that the player with the most Eliminations in a Single Game will be awarded: $50,000.

For those who want to sign up, Epic Games have already confirmed that they have a set list of people who have been invited.

So unless you have received a tournament pass from them, there’s no need to inquire how to join the summer event.

It should also be noted that the Fortnite Summer Skirmish is currently ongoing, meaning that the final standings and leaderboards from the Twitch tournament will change.

The Summer Skirmish series started again today at 10PM BST and will be running for the second leg of the competition on Saturday, July 21, at 6pm BST.

“Participants will be made up of community creators and Fortnite players who have demonstrated their competitive prowess,” Epic Games confirms in a new message.

“The format and competitors may change from week-to-week, so stay on your toes.”

As mentioned above, Epic Games will be changing the format each week to keep things fresh and has also confirmed that they have made backend changes to try and avoid the problem that hit during week 1.

You can find the current the current Fortnite Summer Skirmish leaderboard above, although this will change as the tournament continues.

The big games company confirmed earlier this year that it wanted to expand more into eSports, offering up a large purse as support for those wishing to participate.

“Grab your gear, drop in and start training,” Epic Games posted at the time.

“Since the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale we’ve watched the passion for community competition grow and can’t wait to empower you to battle with the best.

“In the 2018 – 2019 season, Epic Games will provide $100,000,000 to fund prize pools for Fortnite competitions.

“We’re getting behind competitive play in a big way, but our approach will be different – we plan to be more inclusive, and focused on the joy of playing and watching the game.”
