Xbox One games SHOCK: Fortnite has nothing to fear from Microsoft

Microsoft and 343 Industries have revealed more about Halo Infinite multiplayer.

And it’s good news for Fortnite, because it looks like Halo isn’t going down the Battle Royale route.

That’s according to writer Jeff Easterling, who appeared on Mixer to talk about the upcoming Halo release.

Discussing a possible Battle Royale mode in Halo Infinite, Easterling said: “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re interested in is Battle Rifle. The original BR. So, calm yourself.”

While there’s plenty of time for Microsoft and 343 Industries to change their mind, it looks like the upcoming release will focus on more traditional multiplayer options.

It’s something of a shame, because Halo actually feels like it would be a good fit for Battle Royale.

Considering it’s being shoehorned in to games like Call of Duty, Halo’s expansive maps seem more suited to the free-for-all experience.

Halo Infinite was announced during Microsoft’s E3 2018  press conference.

The new game in the Halo series was revealed with a trailer, although sadly no gameplay footage was shown.

Halo Infinite is described as Master Chief’s greatest adventure yet to save humanity.

It’s also said to take the Halo series in a new and unexpected direction – so don’t rule out Battle Royale just yet.

No release date was revealed, but 343 says that it still has a long way to go before the game launches, so expect a 2019 release.

The game is also being built using 343’s new Slipspace Engine, and will take place after the events of Halo 5.

It will also feature a new art style that is said to draw inspiration from past releases.

343 has also hinted at future gameplay betas, which will be detailed in due course.
