Pokemon Go news: New EX Raids, Shiny reveal and event update

It’s been confirmed that new EX Raid invites are being sent out today by developers Niantic.

That’s according to the latest online chatter, with players posting pictures of their new Pokemon Go passes.

Those who have received one have a solid chance of battling Mewtwo in a Gym, somewhere they have been successful before.

The powerful psychic type is one of only a few Pokemon that can be caught in special circumstances.

The new Pokemon Go Raids will be going live on July 26-27, and is the latest weekly EX Raid Pass distribution that’s happened in a row.

It appears Niantic have finally settled on a formula for the event, which has struggled to solidify a set programme.

Getting invited to an EX Raid still leaves some dedicated players out of the loop, with the feature still technically in the beta testing phase.

For those who have been invited this month, it will give Trainers a chance to catch Mewtwo, while also providing plenty of time to prepare for the battle.

Fans may have to wait for more confirmation to find out if all of these new EX Raid passes are real, however, it seems unlikely anyone would bother to fake such a thing so long after the feature launched.

And some players who have been invited are a little annoyed that it is yet another EX Raid pass that has been arranged for during the week.

These Mewtwo events provide a time and date to arrive and battle, meaning there’s no compromise for when you can commence the Gym fight.

It has now been confirmed that Eevee will be the focus of the next Community Day event.

And what that means for everyone is that some new shiny hunting will be available on August 11 and August 12.

Eevee will be available to catch at higher spawn rates between 10am and 1pm in the UK.

And because you can rename an Eevee to help it evolve, it seems pretty likely that fans will be able to nab a good one.

It should be noted that this only works the first time you do it, so there may be some players out there who will miss out.

For those who haven’t used this trick yet, it should also mean you can unlock the special move for the evolved Eevee, which hasn’t been announced yet.

Not to mention that August’s Community Day will run over two days instead of the usual one.

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is teasing the introduction of Gen 4 Pokemon.

With Pokemon Go celebrating its second anniversary, Niantic has released a new teaser image featuring all of the latest innovations.

The picture references the newly released Alolan Pokemon, Professor Willow can be seen conducting research in the background, while two trainers are shown trading Pokemon and gifts.

“From the first Pokemon you encountered to your first #PokemonGOfriend, we’ve enjoyed watching all of your amazing Pokemon GO journeys unfold for the past two years,” reads a Niantic tweet.

“What are some of your most memorable Pokémon GO experiences? Tell us in the comments!”

But even more exciting is the appearance of Gen 4 starter Pokemon Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup.

The Sinnoh Pokemon first appeared in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS.
