Fortnite DOWN: Server status latest for Epic Games scheduled downtime

Fortnite fans will soon have access to new Season 5 challenges as Epic Games turns the servers off for scheduled maintenance.

The development team have not confirmed what the newly scheduled downtime is for and haven’t offered any clues to suggest it’s for a fresh feature.

Servers will be going down at around 9am, BST, and will probably remain offline for several hours.

This means that Fortnite will not be accessible for most of the morning worldwide but how long can we expect the game to remain offline?

How long is Fortnite downtime?

As mentioned above, Fortnite servers go down at 9am, BST, and will remain offline for some time.

It’s unclear just how long Epic Games plan to keep servers offline as no ETA has been provided for when they might come back online.

This is based on the latest server status information shared by Epic Games, who confirm: “Scheduled maintenance is planned for tomorrow, July 19. Downtime will begin at 4 AM ET (0800 GMT).”

Looking at how maintenance has been performed in the past, Fortnite servers will likely remain offline for two to three hours.

So fans could be playing Fortnite again by around 11am in the UK.

It should also be noted that Epic Games usually start to boot players from active games around 20 minutes before servers go offline.

At the moment it’s unclear if something more than just new weekly challenges is going to be released today.

There have been rumours of a new gifting system being added to Fortnite Battle Royale in the near future.

However, nothing has been officially confirmed, so this remains pure speculation.

Epic Games have dropped a few hints about adding such a feature in the past, so there’s hope something will land during season 5.

Today’s scheduled maintenance could be linked to just upgrading the current servers, meaning no big update at the end for fans.

If there are any massive changes made, or some kind of new feature added, you can expect a patch notes announcement to be made during downtime.

FORTNITE CHALLENGES WEEK 2

Some of the new Fortnite challenges have leaked for the battle pass in week 2, with “score a basket on different hoops” and “search between an oasis, rock archway and dinosaurs” some of the new tasks.

During Fortnite season 4 the Fortnite challenges leaked every weekend, however this season it’s different.

For Fortnite season 5 the Battle Pass challenges are being leaked every Tuesday ahead of the tasks officially going live on Thursdays.

The leaked Fortnite challenges are datamined from the Fortnite Battle Royale game files.

This means that, invariably, the Fortnite challenges are completely accurate.

However, occasionally Fortnite challenges leak early and become live in the Battle Pass at a later date.
