Darren Till calls out Woodley, says Covington is ‘out’ and title shot has been offered

Liverpool’s Till moved into title contention in late May in front of a packed crowd at the Echo Arena with a unanimous decision victory over Stephen Thompson, though the win was seen by many as a controversial one.

Days after , Till’s name rocketed up the welterweight rankings into second place, putting him in a solid position to challenge for the 170lbs title.

And now, ‘The Gorilla’ has made a very public beeline for Woodley.

Earlier this morning, he tweeted: “Accept the fight mate @TWoodley.”

The champion soon got wind of Till’s call out and responded by saying: What fight? Ain’t nobody offer me s**t.

“Thought Qweefington (interim welterweight champion Colby Covington) was getting smashed next.

“Y’all challenger need to coordinate y’all a** whipping better!”

Like Woodley, many expect interim 170lbs champion Colby Covington to be the next challenger for the undisputed welterweight title following his

But according to Till, Covington is no longer in contention to challenge for the welterweight crown.

He tweeted: “Colby out son, it’s me & you now. Accept the fight!!”

Till then went on to claim that the brass have offered him a title shot, a statement which perplexed many.

In response to a fan’s criticism of his proposed championship fight, 25-year-old Till tweeted: “I ain’t asking for a title shot! It got offered.”

Woodley, 36, hasn’t fought since defending the welterweight title last July in the co-main event of UFC 214, where he defeated Damian Maia via unanimous decision.
