Alisson ‘AGREES’ Liverpool transfer: Five-year deal, medical booked, announcement imminent

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Roma for the £66.8m transfer of the Brazil goalkeeper – making him the most expensive shot-stopper in history.

The Liverpool Echo claim he will cut short his holiday in Sardinia to complete the formalities and head to Merseyside to undergo a medical before signing the contract.

The Reds are expected to make an announcement in the next 24-48 hours.

Photos have since emerged of Alisson at Rome airport ahead of flying to Liverpool to close the deal.

The current record transfer in pounds for a goalkeeper is the £35million paid to Benfica by Manchester City for Alisson’s compatriot Ederson last summer, while the highest price in euros was Gianluigi Buffon’s 53 million move to Juventus back in 2001.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given public backing to Loris Karius following his calamitous Champions League final performance but has made signing a goalkeeper a priority.

The club are not prepared to say anything publicly until the deal is completed.

Chelsea have also been linked with the 25-year-old, who began his career with Internacional before moving to Roma two years ago.

Alisson will continue Liverpool’s summer spending which has already seen Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri signed by Klopp.

And he might end up being followed to Anfield by Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, with Liverpool still keen on the French playmaker.
