Star Wars: Did YOU spot the Last Jedi moment that brought Luke and Leia full circle?

Doing the rounds today is an observation about Luke Skywalker’s journey from A New Hope to The Last Jedi, and how his storyline essentially starts and finishes.

It’s simple, really: his whole arc begins and ends with Leia and different kinds of projections.

In Star Wars: A New Hope, his path is essentially kicked off when he sees Leia’s projection asking for help; the inciting incident for him in particular being the message-bearing droid R2-D2 arriving in his company.

Then, years later, his tale comes to an end when he sends a projection of himself to his sister. In the first instance, she is asking for help; in the final instance, he is giving it.

A tweet dating back to April 11, which has just started gaining traction on Reddit, says: “Just realized that Luke Skywalker’s story begins with Leia sending a projection of herself asking for help, and ends with Luke sending a projection to help Leia.”

@jmmcnabagain’s observation has had over 150,000 Likes and 44,000 Retweets.

Earlier today, user EpilefWow shared it to Reddit where it has already had hundreds of Upvotes.

Luke, of course, died at the end of The Last Jedi and is now tipped to return as a Force Ghost in Episode 9.

Episode 9 will mark the end of the Skywalker saga, and its official title should – if The Last Jedi is anything to go by – be out in the open by next spring.

Carrie Fisher’s Leia will not be seen, after the actress sadly passed away in late 2016.

It is unknown how her story will be wrapped up, given that she was still very much part of the Resistance at the end of The Last Jedi; but LucasFilm are thought to be avoiding the use of CGI or archive footage to somehow insert her into the movie.

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver are all expected to return, as is star of the original trilogy Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian.

Among the new arrivals will be Keri Russell, in an as yet undisclosed role.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is out now on DVD and Blu-ray. Episode 9 is in cinemas on December 20, 2019.
