Shock moment Donald Trump WINKS at Vladimir Putin before controversial press conference

Sky News cameras caught the moment that President winked at as the two leaders met to speak about trade, nuclear weapons and .

President Trump told the press: “I think we have great opportunities together as two countries that frankly have not been getting along very well over the last number of years.

“I have been here not too long but it is getting close to two years but I think we will end up having an extraordinary relationship.

“I have been saying, getting along with Russia is a good thing not a bad one and I really think the world wants to see us get along.

“We are the two great nuclear powers and we have 90 percent of the nuclear and it is not a good thing, that is a bad thing.

“I think hopefully we can do something about that because it is not a positive force, it is a negative force, so we will be talking about that among other things.”

President Trump said they would talk about a range of subjects, including trade, the military, nuclear weapons and China.

Addressing Mr Trump, President Putin said at the beginning of the talks: “Mr President, I am delighted to meet with you here, in Helsinki, the capital of hospitable Finland.

“We have maintained regular contact. Over the past few months, we have talked on the phone and also met several times at various international events.

“Of course, the time has come to hold in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and global problems, the number of which shows that we must devote our attention to them.”

The Russian leader again denied any interference in the 2016 US election but admitted he wanted Mr Trump to win the vote.

Putin was also astonishingly forced to deny having compromising material on the US leader and labelled the allegations “nonsense”.

Putin added Crimea, Syria and Iran were among the subjects discussed.

The Russian leader called for an increase in investment and trade between the nations and asked for businesses to put forward proposals.

Putin then added: “I had to repeat Russia has and will never interfere with US domestic affairs in an election campaign.”
