Real Madrid transfer news: The three players Perez might sign to end Benzema’s career

Benzema dovetailed well with Ronaldo and was often kept in the team just on his request.

His form last season dropped but he still managed to contribute in a partnership with the Portuguese.

Benzema’s own goal tally was down to just five in La Liga last term.

And Spanish publication AS report that Benzema would be likely to drop to the bench if Real sign an out and striker to replace Ronaldo with their eyes on Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Edinson Cavani.

However Real Madrid have been linked with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Eden Hazard, all of whom are unlikly to play through the middle which would hand Benzema a reprieve.

Benzema has a contract until 2021 after renewing two years ago and no clubs have yet come in with any serious interest in him.

Real Madrid are expected to make big moves this summer with Gareth Bale also uncertain of his future despite his Champions League double and Ronaldo’s exit.

He will hold talks with Julen Lopetegui in the coming weeks to discuss his position in the team.

Bale wants to be leader of the new side who will be without Ronaldo for the first time in nine years.

Real have won the Champions League for the last three years in a row but unless they sign a superstar they will come under pressure from the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and now Juventus.

Ronaldo was unveiled in Turin yesterday and is excited to start a new chapter in his career.

He said: ”It is the best club in Italy, it is an interesting club, with an upstanding manager and coach.

“So it wasn’t a very difficult decision to take.

“I prefer to think of me in the present – the present is very clear, I enjoy football, I am still rather young and I have always like challenges in my life.

“So from Sporting, to Manchester to Real, it was a dream, I didn’t really think I would win so many titles individually or at a club.

“I think this new challenge will be as good as the others.

“I’m not sad, I am here because it is a brand new challenge for my career, it’s a big club.

“Usually players of my age go to Qatar or China, but I am here and I can go on with my career, and I am grateful to Juventus for the opportunity.

“It is just one new step in my career.”
