Overwatch Hammond release date REVEALED: Here’s when Wrecking Ball is out on PS4, Xbox

Hammond is the next hero for Blizzard’s hugely popular FPS, and the release date for the Wrecking Ball has now been revealed.

The official Overwatch Twitter account tweeted a new teaser trailer for Hammond as they revealed Wrecking Ball’s release date.

Overwatch Hammond is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PCs next week, with the Wrecking Ball out on Tuesday July 24 2018.

The Overwatch Twitter account today tweeted: “Beware of small mammals.

“Wrecking Ball rolls into the fight 07.24.18”.

Hammond the Hamster is currently undergoing testing on the PC and is available to try out now in the PTR.

That means fans have had been busy trying out the characters loadout, as well as getting a look at some of its unique skins.

Hammond is Overwatch Hero 28 and had been teased for some time before finally being unveiled last month.

As the teasers came out many fans guessed that Hammond would be Overwatch hero 28.

But they were left stunned when it was revealed Wrecking Ball was a hamster.

It was previously assumed that Hammond was a monkey that had lived on the moon with Winston.

Blizzard describes Hammond, a tank hero, as an “aggressive bruiser” that can bully the enemy’s backline.

In a post online, Blizzard said: “Wrecking Ball’s tinkering capabilities and iron-clad mech make him a formidable tank hero, capable of bowling through the front line of the opposition and causing mayhem in the back line.

“His primary weapon, Quad Cannons, are two sets of twin machine guns that shred enemies caught in their crosshairs.

“No team is too much for Wrecking Ball to engage against with his Adaptive Shield, which generates more health based on the number of enemies nearby.

“This shield makes him incredibly difficult to kill when he bulldozes into the fray and, once he starts to get low on health, also provides him the endurance to escape.”

WHAT ARE HAMMOND’S ABILITIES?

The fuzzy little hamster Hammond has been busy working on making his mech as dangerous as possible, designing a ball that transforms him from a helpless hamster into a formidable tank hero.

Wrecking Ball has two machine guns for his primary fire, with 80 ammo per clip. The damage is fairly powerful mid-range and is a good source of suppression fire that is not available elsewhere in the tank class.

Wrecking Ball has a fast-moving movement ability that transforms his mech into a ball that increases his movement.

He also has a grappling claw that can be attached to walls and surfaces to propel Wrecking Ball into enemies or out of danger.

Once in the air, Wrecking Ball can use his Piledriver ability to slam into the ground dealing damage and launching enemies into the air.

He also has an Adaptive Shield that will create temporary shields around Wrecking Ball, with the amount of shielding increasing based on the number of enemies in his immediate vicinity.

Wrecking Ball’s ultimate deploys a massive field of proximity mines that deal significant damage and zone out enemies from payloads or objectives.
