Harley Quinn: Margot Robbie movie Birds of Prey stars which characters?

Warner Bros has announced another DC-based movie, this time a Harley Quinn girl gang movie called Birds of Prey.

Some of the movies take place in the DC Extended Universe and some are set in their own continuities, which is how audiences end up with two joker movies.

Birds of Prey is the newest movie, a Harley Quinn girl gang movie which Margot Robbie will star in and produce.

Which characters will appear in Birds of Prey?

Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya will join Harley Quinn for Birds of Prey.

Additionally, the villain in Birds of Prey will reportedly be a Batman comics villain who has never before appeared on the big screen.

For non-die hard DC Comics fans, here’s a rundown of the characters who will feature in the movie.

Black Canary, aka Dinah Laurel, is a fantastic hand-to-hand combatant who comes from a family of crime fighters.

Like The Wasp, Black Canary’s mother (also named Dinah) was the original Black Canary.

The Huntress, aka Helena Bertinelli, is a vigilante operating out of Gotham City while Cassandra Cain is one of the world’s greatest martial artists, and also a vigilante.

Finally, Renee Montoya is a detective working for the Gotham City Police Department.

Montoya was originally introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and the comics later had her come out as a lesbian and assume the identity of The Question.

Whether the movie will honour this LGBTQ character’s coming out is yet to be seen.

However, Margot Robbie has promised a diverse cast (and as a producer, she has the capability to follow through on this promise) so it’s likely Montoya will remain true to her roots.

Cathy Yan, who is best known for writing and directing her feature debut “Dead Pigs,” which took home the World Cinema Dramatic Award For Ensemble Acting at Sundance earlier this year, is tipped to direct.

Yan would be the third female filmmaker to join the DC universe with this film, and the first Asian woman to direct a DC film.

Margot Robbie has been a busy woman, receiving critical acclaim for her portrayal of Tonya Harding and her upcoming role in Mary Queen of Scots.

Christina Hodson wrote the “Birds of Prey” spinoff for Warner Bros which has yet to get a release date.
