Ever since the 30th anniversary in 2015, fans have been wondering if there will ever be another time travelling adventure for Doc Brown and Marty McFly.
Just within the last month a fake Michael J Fox accountant announced Back to the Future 4 was happening, before it was quickly debunked.
And now Doc star Christopher Lloyd has revealed he wants to return for a Part IV.
Speaking with Phoenix News Times, the 79-year-old said: “I’d be delighted. I’d love to be in a fourth film, if they could come up with the right idea that extends the story and does it as well as the first three.”
Lloyd added: “Well, I think its a matter of, first of all, it’s important if Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale are excited about doing another episode [of Back to the Future], I think, really, the most important thing is if they can come up with the right idea.
“I think that’s the challenge is to come up with something that really is as good as the originals. I suppose it could happen.
“I have not heard that they’re looking for that, if they’ve made up their minds … hey, here’s something we could do, and they believed in it then they might get going to do it.”
But now Back to the Future trilogy director Zemeckis has given the final word on those rumours and declared a fourth film with never happen.
Speaking with Italian website Bad Taste, the director said: “There will never, ever be, in the most absolutely way, a Back to the Future 4.
“There will be no more Back to the Future.”
In fact back in 2015, Zemeckis clarified that a Back to the Future remake cannot happen up both he and fellow creator Bob Gale are dead and buried.
He told the Telegraph: “And then I’m sure they’ll do it, unless there’s a way our estates can stop it.”
He added: “I mean, to me, [a remake is] outrageous. Especially since it’s a good movie.
“It’s like saying ‘Let’s remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?’
“What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?”
