Realm Royale news: PS4 and Xbox release date latest, patch notes and battle pass UPDATE

Realm Royale is a team-based Battle Royale game from Hi-Rez Studios that has built a dedicated fanbase on Steam.

The good news for console players is that a Realm Royale PS4 and Xbox One release date is being worked on for the future.

But having only released this year in early access, there’s plenty of new developments being made.

This includes the new battle pass which was launched earlier this week, which allows players to unlock new cosmetic items.

While Realm Royale is free-to-play, the new battle pass costs 950 Crowns and comes with a season-long 50% increase to earned XP.

If you do decide to grab a pass, you will be able to unlock new Mount Skins, Class Skins, Chicken Skins, Skydive Effects and Titles.

Players will need to earn Battle Pass experience to climb through the 65 levels of rewards, which is done by playing matches and completing daily quests.

The Battle Pass will be available for eight weeks and comes with an exclusive Battle Pass 1 – Primal Awakening reward.

REALM ROYALE FOR CONSOLES

Question marks were raised over whether Hi-Rez Studio’s latest spin-off game would be heading over to consoles.

There’s indeed been enough interest on Steam so far to warrant further ports.

Steam stats for the game have remained healthy where other Battle Royale games have tailed off.

Realm Royale currently boasts a peak of between 50,000 to 80,000 players each day, following its launch earlier this month.

So questions have been raised over whether Realm Royale for PS4 and Xbox One will be announced in the future.

The jump to console certainly helped a lot of other early access titles, such ARK Survival Evolved and H1Z1.

Others are looking to take the plunge next, with DayZ another game looking to port over to both PS4 and Xbox One.

The good news is that Realm Royale for PS4 and Xbox One has been confirmed, although there’s no current information on a release date.

Andee Cantatore from the Hi-Rez PR team told PSU: “We do intend to bring Realm Royale to consoles, but do not have a timeline at this point.”

Set in the Paladins universe, Realm Royale looks set to cement itself a place in the extremely fast moving Battle Royale market.

And not only will it be arriving on other platforms in the future, but it will also be another free-to-play challenger for the likes of Fortnite to face.

While it’s definitely trying to take on Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG Battlegrounds in the BR stakes, Hi-Rez has brought a few of their own ideas to the table.

Fans will notice the familiar fog mechanics, but will also get the chance to choose their own class.
