Boxing news: Kell Brook vs Brandon Cook OFF after Brit suffers injury – report

World Boxing News reports that Cook has confirmed to them that Brit Brook has been forced to pull out of the bout due to an ankle injury and that has forced Cook to cancel all his UK plans.

The clash was due to take place on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight fight with Joseph Parker at the O2 Arena on July 28.

Cook told World Boxing News” “Apparently, Kell Brook has hurt his ankle, so the fight is off. That means no fight for me and I’m so upset.

“This whole thing sucks and I put so much time into training. It’s the worst news ever for me.”

Cook also claimed that he has not been offered any compensation for the late cancellation of the fight with just two weeks to go.

Cook added that Brook will be out until at least November and that is sure to put a huge doubt on his attempt to face Amir Kahn who is due to fight in September.

Brook had planned to meet either Jermell Charlo or Jarrett Hurd before the new year in a world title fight.

The cancellation of this bout will mean that Brook has fought just twice in the last two years and has won just one fight since his victory over Kevin Bizier in March 2016.

Brook has only fought once since being knocked out by Errol Spence Jr last May.

His last fight saw the 32-year-old stop Sergey Rabchenko in the second round but it remains unclear when he will next step into the ring.
