Epic Games recently launched a whole new season of cosmetic items and revamped challenges in Fortnite Battle Royale.

A new season 5 battle pass is currently available to purchase, which allows players to unlock new tiers of items over the coming weeks.

Some of these new items will be Fortnite skins, including outfits which have already leaked online.

A deep dive of new data recently revealed some which will be available through the battle pass, and others through the item shop.

The first of these new leaked skins will likely be made available to buy on Sunday morning, so fans will want to keep an eye out for the Epic Games announcement.

As mentioned above a lot of new skins, pickaxes, gliders, back bling and emotes have been found in the game files, via Two Epic Buddies and other data miners.

Right now we don’t know all the names and rarities for these items that are being stored for season 5.

As noted above, some of the items listed in the gallery are part of the official battle pass, while others might be unlocked as we saw with the unique visitor skin.

Epic Games have had plenty to say about the new changes, telling fans in an original blog post: “A new Season means an all-new Battle Pass, packed with over 100 new rewards.

“You’ll instantly get two exclusive outfits, then play to level up your Battle Pass to earn up to 100 rewards worth over 25,000 V-Bucks.

“Similar to previous Battle Passes, you’ll be able to complete Weekly Challenges to level up and earn rewards faster. Complete enough Weekly Challenges and you’ll uncover exclusive rewards.”

New map updates have also been revealed, with Paradise Palms part of the desert biome that popped up today.

Epic Games has also made changes to some of the later storm cycles with the latter 7, 8, and 9 cycles now shifting in random directions, instead of simply shrinking.

So as the storm closes in, it will move and shrink to the new location, changes things up quite a bit.

Epic Games have also made changes to the challenges, with progressive challenges no longer restricted to a single season.

Players can now complete progressive challenges at their own pace and are now completed by acquiring a fixed amount of XP and is no longer dependant on your season level.

Weekly challenges are now split into two sections, free and Battle Pass, with the first 3 challenges now available for free while the last 4 are only available if you own the Battle Pass.

However, the threshold to unlock the weekly challenge reward will remain at 4.

Season 5 mixes things up on the challenge front, releasing three free challenges and four challenges exclusive to Battle Pass users.

The challenges are separated into hard and regular tiers of difficulty.

The hard difficulty Fortnite challenges net players ten Battle Stars, while the regular tasks reward fans with five Battle Stars.

Unlocking Battle Stars levels up your Battle Pass, which is how you unlock all the rewards on offer.

Season 5 also features bonus challenges that will net players specific items. The Road Trip challenges are similar to Blockbuster challenges from Season 4.

The Road Trip tier rewards players with unique loading screens for fully completing all weekly challenges. These loading screens feature hidden Battle Star clues.

Drift Challenges, meanwhile, reward players with different skins for earning XP. Earning enough XP to complete four out of five tiers unlocks a special Harvesting Tool.

One of this week’s new challenges tasks players with searching seven different floating lightning bolts. Check out the gallery above to find out how to do it.

It looks like there are more than seven floating lightning bolts dotted throughout the map.

Judging by the early reports, one can be found in Tilted Towers and another near Lazy Links.

There’s also one in Greasy Grove, near the sporting goods store and burger shack.

Lightning bolts appear as bright lights in the sky, and some require a lot of materials to access.

This is especially true of the lightning bolt between the two hills near Haunted Hills.

Completing the Fortnite Risky Reels treasure map challenge will reward Battle Royale players with 10 Battle Stars.

As seasoned Battle Royale players know, while the Fortnite treasure map challenge mentions Risky Reels – you don’t need to head there.

Instead, you just need to go to the location shown on the Fortnite treasure map.

In the case of this Fortnite season 5 week 1 challenge, the treasure map in Risky Reels is showing a location near Tomato Town.

It’s now been confirmed that Fortnite players need to head just south of Tomato Town.

The Battle Star will be on top of the tunnel closet to Tomato Town.
