Chelsea transfer news: Eden Hazard makes new claim over future after Belgium beat England

Hazard enjoyed an excellent World Cup and ended his tournament on a high with a clinical finish as Belgium beat England 2-0 to finish third.

With the World Cup now over, attention switches to where Hazard will play next season with interest from Europe’s top clubs.

The Belgian has not agreed on a new contract with Chelsea and has been non-committal about his future.

Speaking after Belgium’s victory, Hazard was asked if he will be back in the Premier League next season.

Hazard told ITV: “I dunno. I’ve spent six years in England. I played a good World Cup. In the future you never know what’s going to happen.

“Now I will go on holiday and we will see.”

Earlier today, Chelsea announced Maurizio Sarri as their new manager and one of his main early task will be to convince Hazard that his career lies at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri, who has signed a three-year contract, said: “I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League. It is an exciting new period in my career.

“I look forward to starting work and meeting the players on Monday ahead of travelling to Australia, where I will be able to get to know the squad and begin our match action.

“I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans, and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”
