That is according to BBC Sport pundit and legendary Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Pogba starred for France as Didier Deschamps’ side beat Belgium 1-0 in their World Cup semi-final.
Ferdinand was full of praise for Pogba before the game and was backed up by his performance tonight.
“Yes, I think (Kylian) Mbappe was great,” Ferdinand said.
“But also, Paul Pogba today showed why he went for so much money.
“His discipline, which he’s been called out for beforehand, seemed to come into play.
“There’s an understanding about his game, a maturity today in this game.
“Not just today, but in this tournament he’s grown and grown and grown.
“He emerged out of this game as the midfielder on the pitch.”
Ferdinand was also impressed with the performance of France centre-back Raphael Varane.
“I think he’s been fighting with fitness over the last three or four years,” he said of Varane.
“But now, this season he won the Champions League with Real Madrid, and he was immense tonight.”
