Galaxy S8 update brings this new feature to Samsung’s smartphone

When the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus launched they introduced a new feature that could be very useful when the user is on their homescreen.

The phone was able to orient the entire homescreen into a landscape mode simply by tilting the device.

But now it appears the feature has made its way over to the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8.

Users can thank a Samsung Experience update for the new feature.

However, it appears not all Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 phones will be able to switch the orientation of their homescreen immediately.

SamMobile reported only some devices have received the new feature even if they have the latest version of Samsung’s Experience software installed.

The site suggests the South Korean technology company could be rolling out the feature to users slowly, meaning some will have to wait longer than others to take advantage of the handy feature.

However, all Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 users can go into their settings application to see if they have received the new feature.

Users should dive into Home screen settings and if a Portrait mode only toggle has appeared, the feature is available on your device.

The ability to turn your homescreen into a landscape orientation was introduced on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will surely appear on the upcoming Note 9 that is set to be debuted next month.

The Note 9 is set to come pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo and would be the first Samsung phone to do so.

Samsung fans will not have to wait long to see whether the Note 9 will mark a return of the handy homescreen feature.

Last month Samsung sent out invitations to its Galaxy Unpacked event that will take place in New York City on August 9.

The South Korean tech behemoth sent out an invitation with a picture of the Note 9’s signature S Pen in a new gold colour, hinting the phone’s most unique feature could be in for a set of upgrades.

A video was also released that teased the announcement of the new phone further with the bottom of the S Pen appearing in blue and a new button being shown on the side of the accessory.
