PUBG servers DOWN: Battlegrounds maintenance begins for PC changes

Bluehole Inc has confirmed that tonight’s outage is planned and part of scheduled maintenance.

PUBG servers are down for the next three-hours, or for as long as needed to complete the changes.

This will mean that the Battlegrounds on PC won’t be open again until around 10pm, or 5am GMT.

As for what the new PUBG downtime is for, unforutantely won’t mean any new loot or features being added to the game.

“PC players, we will be running a 3 hour server maintenance period on our live servers to implement additional changes to our backend systems.

“The maintenance will start Mar 21 7PM PDT / Mar 22 3AM CET / Mar 22 11AM KST. Thank you for your understanding.”

As confirmed by the official PUBG help Twitter account, this scheduled maintenance is only affecting PC players right now.

PUBG on Xbox One should still be accessible and any disruption tonight will not be because of anything Bluehole Inc. are doing.

As noted above, tonight’s outage could last less than three-hours, depending on how well maintenance goes.

When it does finish, the development team have confirmed that a small patch will be needed to start playing PUBG again.

Bluehole recently revealed that they have a new Spring roadmap in place which will see new maps and features released in the coming months.

Among the changes, they’re planning to upgrade the game’s visuals, with new aesthetics being worked on by the art team.

Some of these can be found in the new PUBG gallery.

New experimental servers are coming to the game with Bluehole using them to test out the first of two new maps.

The new PUBG map will be 4x4km and offer some much tighter gameplay than seen in the original sprawling level.

“It will offer a higher player density and shorter matches and we want to get it into your hands early this time around so we can use your input to make it a great experience for everyone.

This will be followed by another new map, which will be twice the size of the one mentioned above.

“Another new map that we’re working on is planned to be 8x8km in size. As with the smaller map coming to the Experimental Test Servers, we want to get this into your hands early in its development, so you can help us make the gameplay great on this new map.”

Bluehole are also planning to launch some new Game Modes for PUBG, although this seems like it could be a while away from launch.

New vehicles are also coming in the first half of the year, while new weapon sets and attachments are in the works.
