Fortnite replay editor – Here’s how the new Battle Royale feature works

Fortnite is getting an in-built replay editor which will let fans edit clips of Battle Royale matches from multiple angles, Epic Games revealed today.

The Cary-based developer used their keynote speech at GDC 2018 to announce the new Fortnite replay editor.

Epic Games even flew YouTube and Twitch personality Ali-A out to San Francisco to demo the new feature.

The Fortnite replay editor will let fans go through footage of matches they’ve just played and edit it into a clip to share online.

The action can be captured from multiple different angles, so fans will be able to get the best shot of their favourite Fortnite plays.

Epic Games also published a YouTube video in which Ali-A gets an early hands-on with the Fortnite replay editor at the developer’s UK offices.

In the video, he says: “The replay system allows you to jump back into a game that you’ve just had and capture it from multiple different angles using a variety of cameras and really tune and curate better and improved content of a game you’ve just had.

“We’ve been curating these moments and putting together some really cool mini-stories in Fortnite.”

Ali-A added: “When I first heard about the replay system, my first thought was that I know so many content creators who will be so happy to see this.

“Really, it just opens up the game in many, many ways. Content creation, improving as a player, doing many things that had previously been impossible in the game.”

Ali-A added that the Fortnite replay editor lets fans “do literally anything you can imagine with these tools, and make it look really, really clean.”

Earlier today Express.co.uk revealed how Fortnite fans had found files in the recently released patch V3.3 that suggested a replay editor was coming.

According to Fortnite Intel, update 3.30 added a new ‘Replay’ folder to the sounds directory.

Elsewhere, a replay browser was added to the user-interface, complete with various playback icons.

Based on the icons, fans figured out players will be able to change lens settings, take screenshots and much more in the Fortnite replay editor.

Fortnite Battle Royale update 3.30 also introduced the limited time Blitz mode event, which went live on Monday.

Fortnite’s week long Blitz mode is designed around shorter, more intense matches.

Matches will start with the storm circle already closing in on the island, so there’s no time to waste.

Likewise, fans will only have a maximum of 15 minutes to complete games.
