Avengers Infinity War: Forget weapons and powers, GAMORA is the key to everything

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is loaded with superheroes.

From gods and sorcerers to technology and science-powered living weapons, they are all mighty in their own way, but none of it will be enough.

It is still hard to see how any of them can stand against Thanos and the trailers have shown everyone from Vision to Thor and Iron Man appearing to fail before the strength of the Mad Titan.

But what if the key to bringing down Thanos was much simpler. To risk mixing comicbook universes, what if family is his kryptonite ?

There is a brief clip in the latest Infinity war trailer which shows Thanos and a very young Gamora. The Russo’s new cover photo reworks the iconic Logan poster image and replaces it with Thanos and Gamora holding hands.

Joe Russo told Fandango: “(The movie’s) point of view is Thanos’ point of view, so it’s a villain driving the narrative… I think you could argue, too, that a lot of the film is told from the point of view of Gamora, and I think she has a really fascinating arc in the movie.”

Add to this the confirmation that Thanos does not see himself as the villain. Everything he does, he believes is for the best of the universe, and for his children – and those children are the key to this movie.

Gamora and her sister both want to kill their father for the unspeakable tortures he inflicted upon them as children. Thanos, no doubt, simply believed he was making the stronger.

The strength of the MCU has always been its ability to create powerful and complicated relationships where both sides believe they are doing the right thing.

Despite all the epic battles and spectacular powers, the movies have always been about family, whether those we are born into or those we make. From Guardians of the Galaxy to Ant-Man to Captain America Civil War and now the most recent Black Panther, it is always all about family.

Will Thanos’ family be the one thing that ultimately brings him down?
