Overwatch Brigitte release date UPDATE will add these new skins

A lot of new cosmetic items are being added to the game today through a big new update, as part of the launch of the latest hero.

Fans have been waiting a little less than three weeks for the Overwatch Brigitte release to reach live servers.

A lot of testing has been done on the PTR, meaning that some of the worst bugs should have been ironed out.

But players should also expect a few other patches in the near future as well, as Blizzard like to make plenty of tweaks following a big release.

Fans on the PTR have also had a chance to look at some of Brigitte’s new skins, with a lot coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC today,

It should be noted, however, that while Brigitte is being released today, she won’t be available in Competitive Play

“Starting with the releases of Blizzard World and Brigitte, we made the decision to debut new maps and heroes in Competitive Play at the beginning of the season that follows their release,” Overwatch Developer Scott Mercer told fans on the forums.

“This means that Brigitte will become available in Competitive Play when Season 10 begins, just as Blizzard World became available at the beginning of Season 9.

“This will help give each competitive season a stronger identity, as well as provide the community with plenty of time to learn how to play with new maps or heroes.”

And Brigitte won’t be the only thing changing today, with Sombra also getting a nerf as part of the game’s next patch.

There are two main changes coming:

Any time Sombra’s hack is interrupted by damage, hacking will go on cooldown for 2 seconds. With this change, Sombra will have to be more careful about choosing when and who to hack instead of just holding down the button and waiting for people to miss and/or reload etc.

There is currently a 0.1s window of time at the end of the hack where it cannot be canceled via line of sight or other effects (such as Tracer’s recall, Zarya bubbles, etc).

This exists so it doesn’t constantly get broken by very small line of sight blockers such as light posts and signs, etc.

We are removing this window and instead now using multiple LOS checks to make sure the small LOS blockers are still not a problem.

In addition to this, we’re speeding up the update rate of her hacking so that it is more responsive in checking for these fail conditions. The combination of these things means it should be much more reasonable to respond to a hack targeting you.

Brigitte is a low-level support hero who comes with a huge hammer and shield.

The new Blizzard hero can throw repair packs to teammates and even heal allies while damaging enemies.

“Brigitte specialises in armour,” reads a Blizzard post. “She can throw Repair Packs to heal teammates, or automatically heal nearby allies when she damages foes with her Flail.

“Her Flail is capable of a wide swing to strike multiple targets, or a Whip Shot that stuns an enemy at range.

“When entering the fray, Barrier Shield provides personal defence while she attacks enemies with Shield Bash.”
